The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)

 As you will be aware, the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards legislation comes into force on Wednesday April 1st. Information regarding DoLS and the process for requesting authorisations will be on the new Wiltshire Council web site (www.wiltshire.gov.uk) from the 1st April 2009.

Process: Phone 01225 713001 to say you will be faxing the form(s) to the safe haven fax shortly Fax form(s) to 01225 713355 and keep receipt of fax received. MCS /DoLS team will then contact you to let you know the progress of the request.

We understand that the Department of Health is sending out further details to every care home, including the forms on a CD-ROM.
