National Minimum Dataset for Social Care - NMDS-SC is important for gathering information about the social care sector to correctly inform the government and local authorities of the workforce that supports social care.

  • The completion of the data set is essential if you want to access any contributory funds from Skills for Care you may have applied through the Partnership (TSI Funds) to support:-
      • Common Induction
      • Manager Induction
      • LDQ  - Induction
      • NVQ 2, 3 and 4 (health and social care)
  • PLUS Accredited qualification in:-
      • First Aid,
      • Manual Handling,
      • Food Hygiene or
      • ESOL (English Speakers Of another Language).
  • You need to update your details for your establishment and your workforce after 1st April every year.
  • Your dataset can be used with your Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) required by Care Quality Commission (CQC).  When sending your AQAA, your data will need to have all your workforce information and ensure that it is done within a week of submission.
  • Talks are in progress to ensure compatibility between NMDS-SC and the data needed by GSCC
  • Learning how to use the dataset takes approximately 2hrs. Once you have your data set up - further updates really does not take very long to keep the data maintained.
  • There are regular ‘briefings’ to update you on the latest findings and outcomes of the data available.

Wallace is always happy to arrange more workshops to help you with your NMDS-SC, just let her know you are interested.

How do you get started?  Visit the NMDS-SC site, click on ‘create account’, complete the details as fully as possible including an e-mail address.

Your request for registration will be checked and you will be sent an e-mail with a link to continue with the registration process.

DON’T panic here - you can call us or the Helpdesk to work out your registration.  We don’t mind.  Additionally, the NMDS-SC website has a comprehensive help system.

NMDS-SC Helpdesk is available during office hours on: 0845 873 0129 (local call rates apply).

Need to update the workforce or gather the information?  The partnerships around the region have worked together to form a brief ‘tool’ for you to use. Please note, this is not supported by Skills for Care - it has been asked for by you from workshops and feedback.  You can download the tool and use it for your establishment - DO NOT send this to Skills for Care.

Your staffs information is confidential and this is for you to use ‘in-house’ only:
